When Julie isn’t cooking at Native Bowl with Jay, she keeps herself busy writing cookbooks. She's the author of Vegan Diner and six other books, on topics from cupcakes to chocolate. Julie has been regularly featured in Bon Appetit, Cooking Light, Vegetarian Times, and VegNews magazines and can be found cooking on Everyday Dish TV and Good Day Oregon. Julie loves to hang out with her husband and kids, hike in Forest Park, and eat and shop her way around Portland.
Jay Hasson is the co-founder of Native Bowl, where he can be found cooking up delicious bowls, delectable sauces, and his signature garlic tofu. Jay has worked in the food industry for over twenty years, and besides wearing a chef’s hat, he’s also the producer for Everyday Dish TV and a cooking instructor, hobbyist, outdoorsman, proud papa, concerned citizen, and doting husband. He's passionate about bold flavors and eating fresh, delicious food.
